The design for this project respects the fundamental characteristics of repetition, rhythm, and functionality of the existing 1960s building. The proposed building extension maintains the easy readability of the entire ensemble, the visual relationships to the outdoor areas, as well as the rhythmic Southern elevation.
At the same time, the scheme seeks to offer the BORG a greater sense of individualism within the cluster of schools occupying the ensemble. Strong accents are used, and main entrance is made clear, which should offer the monotony of the current 1960s structure a chance for survival. The current regularly posed question of where the entrance is located should disappear altogether, and any doubt that the school offers anything less than a modern and innovative approach to education along with it. The project is something off-centre, yet still centrally binding, compact, and strong.
